40 Memes From a Far Off Place

These memes are not from around here. They had to travel from far-off lands on treacherous routes to get to this very screen. They went through many trials to complete their journey from concept to meme to meme that could bear the ring to rule them all, but that's another story. If you ask them nicely, they might tell you their secrets, but be warned, they might not react so kindly to strangers, for how could a mere mortal understand how it feels to be posted, screenshotted, manhandled, and shared by whoever wants to share them? Memes are not as self-determined as you or I and have very little control over their lives. If you want to get close to a meme, you first must deeply contemplate what it must be like to be them. If you're willing and able to understand these foreign photos, these memes might whisper in your ear and tell you their stories.
